Unique wooden cabin for rent in southern Chile. Beautifully set in natural, peaceful surroundings with fantastic views over the Bay of Reloncavi and the Pacific Ocean.
Ideal for those who seek peace, quiet and absolut tranquility. For nature-lovers, writers, readers and for those that just need to get away-from-it-all.
But also for travellers that wants to explore the fascinating southern Chile. Situated 17 km south of Puerto Montt, the place is perfect as a base for trips into this wonderful and interesting region.
Our cabaņa is built entirely in wood. Rusticly built but yet well-equipped, clean, cozy and very nicely decorated. Very quietly situated, in a absolutely peaceful and special atmosphere. Alot of birdlife.
The cabin contains bedroom, bathroom with shower, wc and hot water. Livingroom and open kitchen with oldfashioned wooden stove. TV and music. Large terrace with wonderful views over the Pacific and the valley to the south. Grill/barbeque.
The kitchen is fully equipped with gasstove, woodstove, refrigerator/freezer and full service so you are ready to cook your own meals.
Just beside the cabin you will find a smaller guest-cabin. This is a seperate cabin that houses 2 beds or can be used as "childrens room" or a second bedroom, if two couples travels together. Or even as an office or "writers hut"..
Maximum capacity: 4 persons.
The cabin in situated in the village of Piedra Azul. A small "pueblo" 17 km south of Puerto Montt, capital of Chiles 10th region - also called the Lake District. Our cabaņa is situated in the hills, 800 m. from the highway and about 120 meters above sea-level.
From the highway a dirt/gravel-road leads up into the hills where is cabin is situated. The 800 m. can be walked in 15 mins., but we recommend renting a jeep while staying in the cabin. A 4WD vehicle is needed to get all the way up.
 
Puerto Montt is situated approximately 1000 km (625 miles) south of Santiago. The city is the capital of Chiles 10th region and is the centre of trade, transport, tourism, education etc.
From Santiago there are several daily flights with Lan Chile, which gets you here in 1 1/2 hours. An alternative are the nightbuses. They leave Santiago in the evening, and arrive in Puerto Montt in the morning. A very comfortable and economic way of travelling. The "Salon-Cama" or "Premium" services, are very modern buses with mealservice, reclinable seats, TV, WC etc. Itīs very comfortable first-class travel, and you do actually sleep well on these buses. Prices are around 50 usd oneway.
From Puerto Montt there are local buses to Piedra Azul every 30 mins (about 1 usd). Taxis are widely available and should cost around 12-14 usd.
If you like to move around alot, and to have easy access to the cabin - its recommendalbe to hire a car during your stay. A jeep/4x4 is your best choice, as it will get you all the way up to the cabin.

Rental & Prices:
The cabin is presently under renovation, and will ready and available for hire from around December 2009. Maybe before. Please write us for more details on this.
The cabin is usually hired on a weekly basis, from saturday to saturday - but shorter stays can ofcourse be arranged.
Weekly prices:
1-2 pers. 300 uro/week
3-4 pers. 450 uro/week
Prices include firewood, gas/butane, water, electricity.

We, your hosts, live not far from the cabin in our own little house. While we donīt interfere with our guests private stay in the cabin - we are always to be found to make sure things work and for any help and advise you might need during your stay.
